We offer American Mahjong lessons for all levels, taught by our trained instructors. Lessons can be customized based on your needs. You can join an open lesson as a solo player or book a private party for you and your friends. We bring all the materials needed—you provide the space—or you can join one of our events where everything is provided.

Intro to Mahjong 1

If you’re brand new to American Mahjong, this class is for you! We’ll cover the basics, including tile names, the Charleston, and how to read the National Mahjong League card. You’ll leave with a solid foundation to start playing.

Intro to Mahjong 2

If you have taken a lesson and know the basics this is your next class. We'll help with strategy, pace of play, and commonly forgotten rules—like joker swaps and calling tiles—to build your confidence at the table.

Intermediate Lesson

If you’re comfortable with the basics and ready to improve your game, this class is for you. We’ll practice defensive strategies, pattern recognition, and advanced techniques, along with mastering dealing and the Charleston.

Family Lesson-Ages 8+

In this fun lesson, parents and kids learn the basics of American Mahjong together! We'll use a simplified card with modified hands and easy-to-follow rules to make learning smooth and enjoyable.You’ll learn tile names, how to build a hand, and the basics of gameplay in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Perfect for beginners and great for bonding across generations!

Coached Game Play

Bring an Après Mahjong coach to your table for guided group play tailored to your experience level. Perfect for beginners, mixed-level groups, or players looking to sharpen their skills.

We’ll help with rules reminders, reading the NMJL card, joker swaps, calling tiles, strategy, pace of play, and confidence at the table—all while you play.

Events

Join us for open play events, tournaments, and custom gatherings designed for players to enjoy games with others at a similar level. Explore the options below to schedule or contact us for a customized package.

Open Play

This event is for players who are comfortable with the basics and want to improve their skills through playing. You can sit at tables based on your experience and speed of play, allowing you to play with others at your level while receiving guidance from an instructor.

Tournaments

Join us for an Après Mahjong Tournament where you can compete against other players and put your skills to the test. Whether you're a beginner or intermediate player, this event is a great way to challenge yourself and have fun.

Custom Event

We can customize American Mahjong lessons and/or events for your group and provide tiles, mats, racks, cards, etc. in Park City and surrounding areas
